When removal is the right call
We always try to save a tree if we can. Sometimes, though, removal is the safest choice for your home and family. Common reasons include:
- The tree is dead, or more than half of the canopy has died back
- Oak wilt, hypoxylon canker or advanced decay has taken hold
- Deep cracks in the trunk, a hollow base, or roots lifting out of the soil
- The tree is leaning towards your house after a storm
- Roots are damaging a foundation, pool, driveway or sewer line
- It is simply in the way of an addition, pool, fence or new landscaping
Our removal process
- Assessment and planWe check the tree's lean, weight, decay and everything around it: roofs, fences, power lines, gardens and neighbouring trees.
- Protecting the siteWe set up a safe work zone and protect lawns, beds and hardscape where equipment will move.
- Sectional dismantlingIn tight spaces our climbers take the tree down in controlled sections and lower each piece by rope.
- Haul-away and optional stump grindingWe cut up the wood and brush and haul it away. We can grind the stump below grade the same day.
If a tree is touching or near the service lines to your home, call us before doing anything. For main utility lines we coordinate with CPS Energy so the work is done safely.

Tree Removal FAQs
Some removals within San Antonio city limits are covered by the city's tree preservation ordinance, especially large heritage and significant trees on certain properties. We will tell you if your tree may need a permit and point you to the city's arborist office.
It depends on the tree's size, where it is, how easy it is to reach and what is underneath it. Every quote is free and given on-site, so the price you see is the price you pay.
Stump grinding is priced as a separate option so you can choose. Most customers add it so the area is ready for sod, mulch or planting.
